Strengthening the managerial capacities of managers of cooperatives for the production and marketing of market garden products by RESSAC in South Kivu

Objective

Contribute to improving the average income of 1,680 market gardeners (52% of whom are women) from 10 targeted market gardening sites in the South Kivu province

Recorded results:

1,680 market gardeners concerned, 52% of whom are women, have strengthened their farm management skills and their knowledge and skills for efficient management of their cooperatives.

8 mixed cooperatives and 1 women's cooperative have 4 functional governance bodies; all are in possession of notarized statutes, business plans and manuals of the Rules & Procedures that they operate.

The average income of market gardeners in the sites targeted by the project increased from $80 to $200 dollars per month and, as a result, their socio-economic conditions are gradually improving;

8 cooperatives out of 12 offer 4 services (extension, training, supply of production inputs, collective sale of their members' vegetables).
